President Rodrigo Duterte has plans to improve public transport efficiency. Thus, he aims to oversee 10 major infrastructure projects under his administration.
Among the ones he plans to build are the subway system in Metro Manila and the railway system in Mindanao.
According to the Philippine Star, Duterte aims to “usher the golden age of infrastructure” in the country, as stated by Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno.
The president wants to build roads, bridges, and mass urban and subway systems in order to greatly decongest the traffic in Metro Manila.
He also plans to act against the inadequacy of mass transport facilities, the prevalence of air pollution in the cities, and the lack of healthy and livable community spaces.
Apart from this, the report also cited that he has 10 major infrastructure projects planned.
These are: the Mega Manila Subway, the Mindanao Railway: Tagum-Davao City-Digos Segment, the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road, the Bonifacio Global City to Ortigas Road Link Project, Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge, and Viaduct (Phase I & II-A).
Also included are: the Philippine National Railways North 1, the PNR North 2, the PNR South Commuter, PNR South Long Haul, the Subic-Clark Cargo Railway Project, and the Unified Common Station.
